The pawfect portrait

InLife client Jodie Storey Munday is an accomplished artist with a side hustle painting pet portraits.

It wasn’t until Jodie was an adult that she really got into painting but with a Mum who’s an art teacher, creativity was never too far away.

“In 2008 a community centre was built and I met my best friend Lisa - we just clicked,” she said.

“And we decided to do an art class together and that’s how it started.”

‘I feel like with everything I paint, I put a little bit of my soul into it.”

Jodie still does weekly art art classes and while her subjects range from landscapes to bees in a hive - pet portraits have now been added to the mix.

Jodie normally works in acrylics from a photo of the subject.

And she’s started taking commissions with dogs and cats, the most popular animals.

While she won’t be drawn on which one she prefers, the best part of painting pet portraits is clear.

“Their (the owners) reaction when they see the finished painting.” she said.

Jodie’s InLife Coordinator Bethany Howl from the Narre Warren team said it was great to see clients consistently reaching both personal and artist goals.

“Jodie is such a talented artist and her whole team have been admiring her work for some time - we’ve even had some of our pets painted by her!” she said.
